Before you begin

Top tips - Checklist

Three weeks before your campaign goes live, we advise you to:

  • Take the time to review the client’s website
Determine whether the client is looking to drive an audience to take an action online.
  • Establish KPIs upfront
Determine which pages on their website are in alignment with their business and advertising goals and whether there Is a call to action in their creative.
Be prepared to recommend two or three KPIs to your client.
  • Set proper expectations
Establish how the client has measured success in the past.
Focus on the learnings and the value the client provides.
  • Identify key players
Determine who at the advertiser will need to receive the tag and tagging instructions (also known as the advertiser’s technical contact or ”web manager”).

Steps to onboarding

The following table provides more detailed steps for onboarding to XP.

Step Action Details Who Best practices and links
1. a. Set up tag data

a. Set up tag data

Response tag: Our Sales team sends a response pixel/tag via email, which you must place on all pages of the advertiser’s website. You can also use the Innovid container tag.

Actions/KPIs/Conversions: Optionally, set up action tags. Ensure you know precisely what you want to track and discuss with your Innovid representative.

  • You can capture visits to specific pages/URLs by indicating the KPI and corresponding URL to match.
  • To capture specific button clicks, e.g., ‘submit’, ‘add to cart’, and/or order IDs, subscriptions, or sales, action tags must be placed on the specific element that creates that action or conversion. You are responsible for setting this up, but our Support team can help if there are any implementation issues. This is usually set up at the same time as the response pixel.

Client

Aim to complete implementing the tag within two weeks of receiving it.

See our XP Quick Tagging Guide for help with this.
  b. Integrate app data

You can optionally integrate InnovidXP with an app traffic analysis solution.

Client

The different app analytics integrations are listed in App Integrations.

  c. Check your tracker works

After implementing tags, complete the steps to check that your XP tracker is working correctly.

Client

Do this at least a week before your campaign goes live.

Follow the steps in Checking your InnovidXP Web Tracker.

2. Upload spot log files

You provide spot logs, which either you or your agency will upload. Required fields include the date, time, the channel the spots air on, and the cost of impressions.

Optional: Upload phone log files
If you have specific phone numbers associated with particular stations, this information must also be detailed in the logs.
You provide phone logs, which either you or your agency will upload. The required fields are start date, time, and phone number.

Client

Try to include as much data in the logs as you can to ensure your attribution is as meaningful as possible. For example, if program-level detail and creative are included in your spot log file, you will be able to split the data by those dimensions in your analysis.

See Uploading Spot Files for detailed instructions.

3. Set up platform

Innovid will set up your XP platform. Once the response and action tags have been in place for 24 hours, Innovid may also confirm response volumes with you.

Innovid

Wait at least 24 hours before confirming volumes.

4. Check data quality

Attribution will run once the first week’s logs are uploaded. The Innovid team will check the quality of the results.

Innovid

Note that we only QA the first set of results after onboarding. This check ensures that your results have the Innovid stamp of approval so you can optimize your next campaign.

See Validating Your Data for more information.

5. Analyze and optimize your data

You are ready to analyze your data and make optimization decisions for your next campaign.

Client

See Getting Started: Analyzing the Data.
