Description: This article explains adding response tracker tags for both buy side and sell side.
Note: Our Javascript-based web tag measures total visits to a website. There is only one visit tag needed per website and it must be implemented on all pages of your website to measure total visits.
The web and action tags fire on page(s) they are placed, while obeying the required opt-in/opt-out mechanisms. Any comparison of web volumes and Google Analytics is on a like-for-like basis as the tag is intended to interact in a consistent way with the consent criteria.
Web tags should be placed on the client website by the web manager.
We recommend installing tags two weeks before your campaign goes live to allow time for data QA.
Note: The TCF is designed to help all parties in the digital advertising chain ensure that they comply with the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and ePrivacy Directive. Our web response tracker is available in a TCF-compliant version. Refer to the IAB TCF support materials for more details.
Buy side
Visit tag
This is a mandatory tag and must be added; this measures all visits to your website. Copy the visit tag code string and place it on every page of your website. The code can be pasted directly onto each page or placed on each page via a tag management system (TMS).
Action/KPI tags
These are optional tags that capture further data and measure what actions visitors complete on your website. You can track smart actions (recommended) or switch on parameters to install advanced actions. We recommend tracking a maximum of two or three actions to ensure clear and concise data results.
Innovid can track actions/KPIs that happen days and weeks after the initial response to a TV airing. This is called the lag period and is typically set to 14 days.
Sell side
Visit tag
This is a mandatory tag and must be added; this measures all visits to your website. Copy the visit tag code string and place it on every page of your website. The code can be pasted directly into the header of each page or placed on each page via a tag management system (TMS).
Action/KPI tags
These optional tags capture further data and measure what actions visitors complete on your website. You can track smart actions (recommended) or switch on parameters to install advanced actions. We recommend tracking a maximum of two or three actions to ensure clear and concise data results.
To track a smart action, select the checkbox. The following actions are set up:
- Sign-up Form Completion: measure all customers who submit the “Sign-up” form.
- Purchase Completion: measure all customers who complete a purchase and are forwarded to the “Thank you” page.
Note: You can add a new one to track a different action.
To track an advanced action, for example, to capture revenue or user IDs, select the Settings cog and enable one or more options to capture specific details.
The InnovidXP technical team receives notification of the actions you want to track and sends you the tags with deployment guidelines.
